Superior sequel but never actually ignited my fire
As said with the first 'Hunger Games' picture (which had its plus points just didn't do much for me), the books are fun, scary, thrilling and moving though considering being so rich in particular and characterisation they are difficult to suit.
'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is a bigger and somewhat better sequel, only as well could have been much better. Information technology underwhelms as an accommodation nevertheless, with the basic details there but in need of more depth (not equally desperately every bit with the beginning film though), but again information technology's more than problematic on its own. Not an awful movie (neither is the first) but considering the talent and source material, there was real potential for it to exist actually adept, and information technology doesn't quite do that.
Starting with the good things, most of the interim is fine. Jennifer Lawrence is terrific as Katniss, and she is brilliantly supported by Donald Sutherland and the late Philip Seymour Hoffmann bringing starting time-course villainy. The activeness is more than heady and tense and much less hindered by the hasty pacing and corybantic editing that marred the activity in the first 'Hunger Games'.
Generally (apart from some dodgy special effects) the production values are slicker and even more than ominous, the dystopian feel as nightmarish as ought. The score is thrilling and emotive, and there is more jeopardy and intensity, if happening quite late into the motion-picture show.
All the same, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Burn' is bedridden by an overlong and far too stretched running fourth dimension, and sadly the material is not consistently interesting enough to justify information technology. A terrible film: overlong, badly acted, with a cheap rip-off storyline
I didn't think much of the kickoff HUNGER GAMES film only yet I was interested to see how this sequel, Catching FIRE, held upwardly. The reply is that it'south even worse than the first film, a pointless retread of the first film'southward storyline that bears more than than a passing resemblance to the ii Japanese BATTLE ROYALE movies.
Once once again an ultra slow pacing and ultra lengthy running time combine to make this a near unwatchable slice of boredom. It's incredible that in the whole first hour and a half of the movie absolutely nothing happens other than to set the scene and the mood. It becomes instantly apparent that more care was taken with the incessant costume changes and scenery rather than the calibre of the script or the acting, because both are truly mind-numbing.
Eventually the action kicks in towards the end of the flick, but information technology'south all equally uninteresting and CGI augmented equally you lot'd look; the 12 certificate simply isn't right for a film with this subject matter. Good comeback from the outset
Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) are home after winning the Hunger Games. Katniss is sparking some rebellious acts. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is drastic to reign in the opposition by co-opting the Katniss-Peeta relationship. Only they have barely spoke in the last 6 months, and she is notwithstanding with Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). Snow forces Katniss and Peeta to fake their relationship, and plant a winners-but 75th Hunger Games equally a way to maintain control.
I've never read the books. Looking at only the movies, this is a good improvement over the commencement one. Katniss and Peeta are more than developed characters. Their relationship has a lot more than color. It is the emotional content where most of the improvement has occurred. The most interesting new character has to be Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). She adds a fleck of wild energy to the movie.
The production value takes a small stride frontwards. The apocalyptic sets are nonetheless looking too sparse. The bigger CGI settings still has an older iteration feel. I similar the monkeys, and the birds scenes. It's a skilful improvement from the terminal games. Overall, this movie is a skilful step up. It really makes me looking forward to the side by side movie.

OK! You Got Me!
I was pretty indifferent to the first film. Considering I wasn't on board with the younger people who have embraced the books, I felt kind of empty when I saw information technology. I small criticism is that the characters don't seem to accept much say in what happens to them. Considering they are viewed and then closely, they can't fifty-fifty plot against the evil forces that have brought them to where they are. What I failed to take into account is that this is a iii-book series and needs to be viewed equally such. While I found the sequel really talky at times, the abiding barriers being put along past the forces in power, admittedly drain united states of america as nosotros hope for the best. The hardest thing for me to deal with is that only a single survivor can be had. This forces alliances and expose (much similar near reality shows merely with much more dire consequences). The saving grace for HG2 is that the characters are then much more than interesting. They have become more than human with human feelings, despair and dearest. I must have liked it because every time I saw that emcee with his white teeth flashing, I wanted him expressionless. The same with Donald Sutherland who reminded me of the James Bail character with the kitten. And then, there get my emotions of revenge. Had a group of people non brought me to this picture show, I would probably have not bothered with it. At present, I will definitely see the next one to come across how everything shakes out.

This is "The Hunger Games: Catching Burn", the biggest box office success from the year 2013 (v years old adjacent year) and the second of four films from the Hunger Games franchise. Solid step upwards from the commencement film even though it still lacks real teeth
When I watched the first Hunger Games film I was surprised by how rubber, sanitized and almost totally unmemorable it was – things that were even more than surprising to me when you consider the bailiwick matter of children murdering children. To me that was a declining of the film only also of the first part of the story since we actually did need more horror and oppression to it all. The aforementioned but better
I only accept read the first book of the Hunger Games, but seen both movies. The start pic had to be restrained and was compared to a Japanese motion picture (not without a reason). While this seems a scrap like a rehash of the same, information technology is mode meliorate in execution. It's all the same a bit also long and has some issues, but the comedy bits do work in its favor and in that location seems to exist a switch in footstep.

First, I should note that I had never heard of the "Hunger Games" books until the commencement picture show got released. I did eventually see the movie and establish it to be a good one (and then realistic that it seemed redundant). The sequel continues the story, showing how Panem's rulers feel threatened by Katniss'south popularity among the oppressed populations and try to co-opt her. One scene in item looks exactly similar something out of Coliseum games in aboriginal Rome.
"The Hunger Games: Catching Burn down" turned out to be Philip Seymour Hoffman's final movie released before he died. His portrayal of the dynamic Plutarch Heavensbee shows him to take been one of the greatest actors of his generation. While this flick is not a masterpiece, I nevertheless recommend it. I'll be eager to meet the next two installments.

Excellent Sequel
Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.
Non to deny the starting time film whatsoever acclaim it deserved, but the 2nd is much improved because we are less concerned with love and more concerned with the basic homo instinct of survival. We also go more of the political aspects that actually provide the story a much deeper meaning.
The picture show is bolstered by a potent cast -- non but the wonderful Donald Sutherland, but some swell newcomers similar Jena Malone and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Hopefully Hoffman'due south role in future films will not be compromised also terribly by his passing.

I was surprised to see the critics giving this 5 out of five stars, merely it admittedly deserves information technology, information technology has better special furnishings, the potential love story develops a chip more than, the chase and death sequences are more exciting, the vocal "Atlas" by Coldplay in the stop credits is skilful, and fans of the books and high octane kind of films will not be disappointed, a fantastic futuristic activity thriller. This is the second in the series of 'Hunger Games' movies based on the books. My married woman read them, I didn't. Information technology just didn't seem interesting to me. I had a lot more interest in the opening scenes leading up to the actual competition, and the endmost scenes. Still, a good moving-picture show, worth the watch.
SPOILERS: As it turned out several behind the scenes were conspiring to make sure Katniss and Peeta survived, and in fact when it was all done they described it equally the showtime of the revolution. Not only does Katniss survive, plus Peeta and several others, she managed to shoot an arrow, with copper wire attached, into the roof as an artificial lightning bolt hit a tree on schedule, this destroyed the dome and structure came raining down. She and the others were rescued and nursed dorsum to health.

probably my favorite of all the films
Francis Lawrence was somehow the all-time (or just a correct) choice for this installment of the Hunger Games serial - and it seems similar he did a good enough job that the producers gave him the two parter of Mockingjay - and yet it is easy to see from I am Legend. Not a flawless film, just it showed a manager who knew how to put someone we care about every bit an audience almost inherently (Will Smith, Jennifer Lawrence) in harms style of some really f***ed upward scenarios. Well, information technology'south been more than than a year since I saw The Hunger Games and actually enjoyed it and then when I watched this sequel with my cinema-working friend (who had seen information technology twice before and liked it), I was very glad I did! And Jennifer Lawrence is once again fine as the conflicted heroine who tries to survive against the madness she constantly has to bargain with. This is modernistic ballsy storytelling at its finest with some of the best casting I've seen for a picture show in recent years, that's for certain! enjoyable but overrated
This film tells the story of the victors in previous Hunger Games getting chosen to take part in a special edition of the Hunger Games.
The flick wants to attain many things, including the obvious action thriller, merely also achieve an emotional subplot that highlights the humanity of the lead participants. Though I like their humanity and the touching things they do, I recollect this emotional element distracts the activity subplot, making the film less exciting. Moreover, the dear subplot is very contrived. The movie likewise spends besides much time telling the story before the game, and little time during the game.
Overall, I enjoyed the flick but it's a picayune overrated.

For publicity-sake, Katniss must continue her romance with co-winner Peeta(Josh Hutcherson). Repeat scenery and situations; and many characters, but this time more than lavious and over-the-top. This sequel, as expected, comes across as even better than our outset trip to the exaggerated world of the "Hunger Games". A vivid cast that also features:Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Sam Claflin and Stanley Tucci, every bit the self-centered, cheeky circulate emcee. This movie is everything I idea it would be and Miss Lawrence is magnificent, every bit she is beautiful.

Difficult as it May Seem...Worse than the Starting time

The Repression and Starvation are Shown as Dirty Faces and Tattered Clothes with the Downtrodden Insights Reduced to Staring Sunken Faces. Zero is Ever Contemplated or Explored. This Thing is then Excruciatingly Shallow and Lightweight information technology can't even Manage to Sink from its own Excesses.
The Final Bit, the Actual Games, are so Recycled and Unimaginative as to Boggle the Bean. The Grand Finale has Blood Rain, Diseased Fog, a Spinning Clock, and for the Large Bang...Baboons.
This is what Passes as Epic Entertainment and Large Scale, Teen Friendly, Rah-Rah these Days. Wispy, Unengaging, Bland, and Embarrassing this is one of those Blockbusters that in Ten Years volition hardly get more than a Casual Glance and that Only to See what all the Fuss was about. Good Question.

Closer to the Volume
I matter I will give Catching Fire credit for is being more alike to the book. Of course, movies will always have limitations books don't have and vice-versa, but this movie did a adequately good job.
Although I liked Hunger Games better, both the volume and the movie, this movie was a very shut second. The conflict in this motion picture was the same but dissimilar. The Capitol and President Snow are still the enemy, the various districts are still oppressed and the Hunger Games brand another appearance, just that'due south where the similarities stop.
The ante has been upped by both the Capitol and the districts. In other words, both sides accept a lot to lose this time around with the Hunger Games. I like how Suzanne Collins seamlessly and neatly wove in another Hunger Games with Katniss and Peeta existence thrust back into them. It is a solid, solid 2nd installment, just not quite as practiced every bit the beginning.
